Meet Your Practitioner
Rebecca (better known as Becky) is a graduate of the Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, CO where she received a Masters degree in Oriental Medicine in 2000. She is designated a ‘Diplomate of Acupuncture’ by the National Certification commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Becky also holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Regis University. She earned her BS in physical therapy and athletic training certification from the University of Vermont. Prior to attending graduate school, she worked for 17 years at St. John’s Medical Center in Jackson, WY as a staff and a supervising therapist, including acute care, outpatient and home care, sports medicine and aquatic therapy.
“I love being able to spend quality time with my patients and being effective with helping them find their path for healing on many levels. I find myself learning so much from you the patient as I believe when a patient and practitioner come together it is a meeting between two experts. Ultimately you know your body the best and it is my duty to be a respectful listener and create the most effective treatment plan for your specific needs. We become most effective when we use our body’s own power and energy to heal itself.”
Becky has experience treating orthopedic and neurological conditions, is a certified Reiki 1 2 practitioner and a certified Level 1 Craniosacral therapist. She served as a volunteer advanced level Emergency Medical Technician for Teton County EMS for 17 years and worked as an air ambulance flight EMT for Jackson Hole Air Ambulance for 8 years.
Because of her extensive western medicine background, Becky is comfortable discussing your western medical diagnosis and coordinating care with your primary healthcare provider. Additionally, she sees referring to other practitioners as a way of finding the best possible ‘team’ for assisting you with your health and wellness needs.
Becky enjoys sharing her knowledge with others by teaching workshops in orthopedic assessment to acupuncturists as well as Kinesio taping workshops to many medical professionals. See the Workshops tab for more information.
Originally from Maine, Becky has called Jackson home since 1980. When she’s not caring for her patients, she can be found hiking and exploring the backcountry of northwest Wyoming. River trips, biking, camping and canoeing are also favorites in the summer and winter finds her playing women’s ice hockey and skiing of all types. ‘Down time’ finds her enjoying photography and watercolor painting or in the woodshop—a hobby that blends well with her favorite volunteer efforts at Habitat for Humanity. She also is a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol. She shares a historic log cabin with her partner along with a variety of rescued dogs and cats.
